Activating a District Through Arts & Culture!

Located in downtown Las Vegas' historic Sahara Commercial Center sits New Orleans Square: a growing art destination, complete with galleries, symphonic rehearsal space, DJs, multi-media experts, private lessons in voice, dance, acting, healing arts, and more. This small, centrally-located arts & culture district is returning to its roots and paying homage to its original intent when built. Constructed in the 1960s, New Orleans Square and Sahara Commercial Center were THE place for cultural and arts experiences and everybody who was anybody lived right across the street at the Las Vegas Country Club. Thankfully, in a city famous for implosion of properties that have long passed their perceived usefulness, this historic setting has not only survived economic downturn and neglect, but it is coming back with vibrancy, originality, hard work and dedication to the spirit of our great city.

What's our real motivation?

In New Orleans Square, our tenants (we call them friends) include many nonprofit organizations working hard to support our community. What better motivation to host a mural festival than to also help those who are helping others? A significant portion of the profits from each year's festival (and those to come) will be divided among:

Las Vegas Youth Orchestra
Gender Justice Nevada
Sin Sity Sisters of
      Perpetual Indulgence
TINHIH's Alternative Peer Group
Las Vegas Rescue Mission

Additionally, we have also organized Mural Mecca into a 501(c)3 nonprofit to better serve our community.

Mural Fest 2020 is Pandemically-Postponed

We were already in the mid-stages of planning Mural Fest 2020 when COVID-19 closures hit. Because we wish to keep our community safe and healthy, and also understand the financial challenges so many individuals and businesses are facing due to pandemic-related closures, we have decided to postpone this year's festival to 2021. Please keep an eye on our website with relation to the Call for Artists for next year's event, sponsorship, vendor and volunteer opportunities, and other ways to be involved.
