Located in downtown Las Vegas' historic Sahara Commercial Center sits New Orleans Square: a growing art destination, complete with galleries, symphonic rehearsal space, DJs, multi-media experts, private lessons in voice, dance, acting, healing arts, and more. This small, centrally-located arts & culture district is returning to its roots and paying homage to its original intent when built. Constructed in the 1960s, New Orleans Square and Sahara Commercial Center were THE place for cultural and arts experiences and everybody who was anybody lived right across the street at the Las Vegas Country Club. Thankfully, in a city famous for implosion of properties that have long passed their perceived usefulness, this historic setting has not only survived economic downturn and neglect, but it is coming back with vibrancy, originality, hard work and dedication to the spirit of our great city.

What's our real motivation?
In New Orleans Square, our tenants (we call them friends) include many nonprofit organizations working hard to support our community. What better motivation to host a mural festival than to also help those who are helping others? A significant portion of the profits from each year's festival (and those to come) will be divided among:
Las Vegas Youth Orchestra Gender Justice Nevada Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence TINHIH's Alternative Peer Group Las Vegas Rescue Mission Additionally, we have also organized Mural Mecca into a 501(c)3 nonprofit to better serve our community. |
